Interior Design Process

Showroom Consultation
Explore your design objectives, meet the team, define your budget and ask questions to ensure that JRD is a perfect fit for your new project.

On-Site Review
A JRD designer will come out to your home to finalize your project goals, field measure, and discuss big picture ideas to finalize the project scope. A $300 per hour charge is required for an on-site visit to cover pre-contract design and travel time.

Letter of Agreement
A written contract will be signed by both parties that will summarize the project scope and cost estimates. This document is created to make sure all parties are aware of the design plan and the costs associated with the different design phases. At this time, we will collect the design retainer outlined in the contract and get started on your design plan. After the initial retainer is used, design time will be invoiced monthly. Cabinetry deposits will vary by vendor.

Design Development
Jillian Richey Design will develop a cohesive design plan that follows our scope of work outlined in the design contract. Construction documents, schedules, and selections will be made during this phase. We will update cost estimates discussed in the initial meetings and prepare orders for approval. Services will vary based on the project scope.

Construction Administration
In conjunction with your desired builder and architecture team, JRD will assist in the management of the construction process to assure conformance with the design intent, visit the site frequently, and address any in field conditions as they arise. This will include a detailed punch list to ensure all work has been completed.

Furniture Delivery, Install and Completion
After Construction is finished and cleaning services have been provided by home owner or builder (if applicable), we will execute the installation of furniture, drapery, wallcoverings, and accessories. A Jillian Richey designer will help schedule and assist in all the deliveries. If the designer or client cannot be present for the day of delivery, a meeting time will be set up to review quality of finishes and assure placement is consistent with the design plan.

Staging and Photographs
JRD is proud of our work, and we hope you will be proud of your new space! After the completion of your project, we will come to the home to stage and photograph. The photos will be available to you at any time. Jillian Richey Design reserves the right to publish any of these photographs unless specific instructions by the home owner have been discussed during the written agreement phase.

All phases are edited based on project scope and may not be applicable for every contract. Please feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions.
